This website was launched on 31st July 2012 to match the announcement of the United Nations High-Level Panel (HLP) meetings. It's also co-hosted by the civil society and the United Nations (UN).

The World We Want 2015 website will act as a platform for people worldwide to voice their concerns and ideas, which will be integrated into a collective vision. Even better, the UN and World Leaders will develop and improve their post-2015 development agenda while factoring in the shared vision of the citizens.

UN High-Level Panel (HLP)

UN High-Level Panel (HLP)

Ban Ki-moon (former UN secretary-general) selected 26 eminent figures along with his special advisor Ms. Amina Mohammed to serve as the panel member for the UN High-Level Panel in July 2012.

This panel aimed to pioneer innovative and practical strategies for the post-2015 development agenda, following the conclusion of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in 2015.

The UN High-Level Panel (HLP) was co-chaired by Prime Minister Cameron (UK), President Sirleaf (Liberia), and President Yudhoyono (Indonesia).

UN HLP Report

5 UN HLP meetings were held in New York, Monrovia, Bali, and London between 2012 to 2013 to discuss the post-2015 development agenda. Additionally, plans were in place to implement an improved version of the MDGs after its conclusion in 2015. This was to be called the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On 30th May 2013, the UN published an elaborate HLP report named “A New Global Partnership: Eradicate Poverty and Transform Economies through Sustainable Development”.
The HLP report mentioned ‘5 major transformative shifts’ that will be implemented in the post-2015 development agenda, which were:

  • Leave no one behind
  • Put sustainable development at the core
  • Transform economies for jobs and inclusive growth
  • Build peace and effective, open, and accountable institutions
  • Forge a new global partnership
